It's the delta "T's" that really drive wx.

As temps increase the extremes (rain, wind) events just have more energy.

Not pretty from an atmospheric standpoint going forward.

Weather is also reported on much more now than in the past making people more sensitive to it. There were two hurricanes in the 1950's that hit the east coast which were stronger than Sandy. Less damage though due to less development near the coast. Very few people are aware of this.
