And it simply isn't the business of anyone else, no matter how helpful you may think you're being.

It is if your stubborn refusal affects the health or welfare of others, the cost of which will be borne by others......eg you get paralyzed in an accident due to your refusal to wear a seatbelt will require society to pay for your medical bills and support for the rest of your life....
Also, if your refusal influences your children or others in your car, it is the business of others...

Listen I-node, what we know.

1. No matter where you go in the world, you will find government, religion and social norms controlling human behaviour. On many levels, city, state, federal and world governments. It's not accidental, people build these institutions EVERYWHERE to manage human behaviour. We do it, there is no "they" doing it to us.

2. We are totally emersed in the regulations; we crave them. You drive for 15 minutes and your eyes are constantly searching for commands; double yellow lines, stop signs, pedestrian crossings, stop lights, speed limits, right turn on red, left turn the other guy has priority... it goes on and on. We LOVE our regulations, I could give dozens and dozens of other examples.

3. It works. Humans dominate the planet, we live one on top of each other in cities that wouldn't be anywhere near possible without totally regulated, and predictable behaviour from each other. One guy decides to be a libertarian and cross the double yellow line and a bunch of people die. But millions on millions, everyday, passing each other inches away at 65 MPH don't make that libertarian decision. Millions on millions, in almost complete uniformity. For mammals, it's extraordinary.

All these myths we tell ourselves about being rugged individuals, it's all BS. We wouldn't survive for a week without one another. We're totally dependent on, yes, government, it's why we build it everywhere on multiple layers. And it's likely why you folks resent it so much... and I can't really blame you for it, it's smothering.

Look at what we do, not what we say. What we do tells you what we really are... what we say is mostly myths to make us feel better.
