That is one way to look at it.

But what I am arguing is, that the sense of humanity must prevail for any thing else to be worth a cup of cold spit.

And the more egregious things we need to deal as a people, the more we need to apply humanity.

Humanity is the means by which one measures the civilization of a society by.

So it must trump garden variety problems.

Like a local gang. We will get them later when we prevail. We know who they are.

It is sort of a war between people who feel and people who do not feel.

Remember the tag the right wingers put on us:

"Bleeding Heart Liberal".

They saw it as something bad.

Now there is our problem.

I'm really not against the death penaly, only because it does serve to reduce the population of humans on this planet, plus, it takes some really dangerous characters out of society. I see overpopulation as the root cause of many of our most serious problems, and anything that serves to reduce overpopulation, like the death penalty and abortion, as good things.

I can see that ideally, you don't want the state to kill anyone, ever. But that doesn't address reality.
