>>>"Lawyers build strong case against poker"... Yea, Right Carefully read the following paragraph extracted from that OpEd piece. "Well over 58 percent of the more than 400 poker players surveyed said they have won payouts higher than the $125 limit. One-third said they spent the last dollar in their pocket on video poker. Just over 5 percent said they have considered suicide at least once because of video poker." People who write with such ambiguity are either just terrible writers, or they are deliberately attempting to cast their information in the best possible light. Let's dissect these words, shall we? >>>"Well over 58 percent" What does that mean? is it 58.9 percent, or 76 percent, or 99 percent? >>>"more than 400 poker players surveyed" was that 401 poker players or 4001 poker players? under what conditions were these poker players surveyed? >>>"One-third said they spent the last dollar in their pocket" Geez, how damning! Did these people go home pennyless - unable to pay the rent or feed the kids; or, did they simply spend the $10, $20, or for that matter, $50 that they came prepared to spend? Last weekend I took my boys to the ball game and somehow managed to spend the LAST DOLLAR IN MY POCKET; I suspect that I wasn't the only one. I guess it's time to outlaw sports stadiums! >>>"Just over 5 percent" Nah, that's too easy... you get the picture. >>>"Just over 5 percent said they have considered suicide at least once because of video poker." Hell, is that all? Ok, new survey: how many BNGOW holders have considered suicide while watching thousands or tens of thousands of dollars disappear? Maybe we can beat "just over 5 percent". If not, we can always survey some Oxford Health Plans (OXHP), or BRE-X investors.
