Avago is the part of HP that I worked at... It was spun off from Agilent and sent to Singapore to avoid US taxes.
Avago to replace LSI in the S&P 500
  • Avago Technologies ( AVGO) +2.8% AH after Standard & Poor's announces it will join the S&P 500, replacing LSI Corp. in the index after the close of trading on May 7.
  • AVGO is acquiring LSI in a deal expected to be completed tomorrow.
  • This follows Verigy that was the semiconductor test equipment part spun off from Agilent (HP) and headquartered in Singapore and eventually bought by a Japanese firm... forgot the name...

Now all the cash from LSI sales sitting overseas can avoid US taxes...

Now I REALLY wish I took the money I got from the Verigy buyout and bought Avago.... but I worried I was too close to it and was probably influenced by some friends complaining about cost cutting.
