Let's assume that $49 will cover all of their costs with the exception perhaps of the support infrastructure. The next important consideration is what impact that will have on sales of their current, non-existent, office suite. Obviously what this product does is make the NC a compelling appliance for cost-conscious and control-conscious businesses. Again, the work product is what counts along with the effort required to produce and communicate it. IBM thinks it has an edge over Microsoft Office in that regard and it's going to be up to the banks, auto-makers and others to decide which product provideds the company the most benefit.
