I have a more speculative view of the stock,
but am enthusiastic as well. One of the reasons
is that I think the Justice Department has
opened the doors for a handful of software
companies like Netscape and Corel to persue
damages against Microsoft. Speaking on CNBC this
morning, I thought Barksdale sounded as though
shifting to attack was now a reasonable and
obvious choice for them--surely a company like
Corel might benefit a great deal too from any
findings of the court Master through next May.

It would also not surprise me if the feds found
Microsoft in contempt still--I think everybody
was surpised by the speed with which the Justice
department made their decision, and the damning
tone of the Judges decision. He all but said
"will we look at this some more but you are
going to lose Microsoft". Anyway, the price of
Corels stock...the fact that they have had
somewhat of a relationship with Netscape in
bundling software in the past, and the chance
that Corel might just go after Microsoft now
for a couple hundred Million...are all small
good reasons to be in this stock now.
