Canaccord (CF-T) bullish on TSX and emerging markets, investors continue to favour Canadian stocks over emerging market plays. Canaccord Genuity Group analyst Martin Roberge believes the situation may soon change. Mr. Roberge notes many indicators point to further TSX and emerging market leadership. Mr. Roberge recently highlighted the historical outperformance of TSX and emerging market equities through value cycles as a result of the 50-per-cent to 60-per-cent weighting for financials and energy in the TSX and many emerging market benchmarks. He says, "These two sectors typically lead markets when value takes over growth." Another factor is now at play that could be positive for both equity groups. He says emerging markets are catching up to developed markets in terms of macro momentum. Mr. Roberge notes that TSX and emerging market equities typically lead the S&P 500 when the OECD LEI diffusion index for emerging markets surpasses that of developed markets. He says: "We are not there yet but we are closely approaching the cross. Mr. Roberge says investors should also prepare to favour Canadian over United States stocks.
