Zulily’s Delivery Problem: The Packages Pile Up

Forgot who these guys were. Great idea.

I just wonder how cutthroat the retail business is going to get with Costco, Walmart, HomeDepot, Sears slowly getting better and better at it, and companies like Zulily nibbling at Amazon's edges...

I worked for TowerRecords. Really was fascinating. Solomon was heavily into computer really early, having the cash registers keeping track of inventory and sales areas. He showed me one of the first CDs before most people had ever seen one, still remember it was a Weather Report album. I asked "If these are all ones and zeros, why can't you just sell the data over the phone?" not knowing how slow modems were in those days.

Soloman just missed one thing, and it put him, once the biggest music retailer in the world, out of business.

Used CDs. They sound just as good as a brand new CD. So why would you buy a new CD for $15 when you can buy a like new CD for $3?

Oops.
