Do not know where Paul is George, I am boning up on these questions and will revisit the research I did on the Qualcom internet site and the Motorola internet site this weekend on some of the specifics and differences of CDMA and TDMA. The past few post have very accurately covered the advances in the Nextel product line to cover the concerns put forth by PT. These same concerns were addressed in detail in the OJ days. I hope for his sake he adjusted his investment style. Another advantage to the lower frequency, and greater power punch is obstacle penetration. I have not been following the thread that closely nor any of the new developments in Nextel in the last 6 months, but you mean to tell me, no body has come out with a "direct connect" feature yet. That is the number one draw and number one feature Nextel has. One of the construction crew working on our property mentioned how many cell phone he had damaged beyond repair, he has not had this problem with the rugged nature of the ip370. Anyway the story is the same as it was 6 months ago, Nextel has a target market, and they have a product tailored for that market. The TDMA (time domain multiplexed analog (If I remember the proper name)) means dividing (in Nextel's case) an RF carrier frequency into time slots. The carrier (frequency) is divided into 6 slots for dispatch and 3 slots for full duplex (telephone calls). Thus a frequency (channel or carrier) can support 6 independent dispatch style (direct connect) conversations at one time. In the cell phone mode, because of the full duplex nature (one channel of voice going and one channel of voice coming) the actual time compression realized is 3 to 1 for the frequency (channel or carrier, what ever you want to call it, they all mean the same). Anyway, I need to read up and like I mentioned in an earlier post, I a meeting a Nextel representative (engineering type) next Wed. on some other matters. How timely!!! Have a good weekend, Robert
