Up to 1900 the Germans had been enjoying very good times with resurgence of a "New Imperialism" with rise of industrialization & accompanying burst of population. Which of course led to fierce competition with France & Britain. Underpinning that economic success & expansion was just as in nature, another human arms race & competition for territory spurring it with the obvious central theme of "nationalism". Why would anyone with even average intelligence introduce a "Devil" into this obvious mix then? This has to be the most simple minded, blind & insufferable diversion anyone could dream up or still cling to. Even Alexander when he conquered many cities & principalities would have all kids of military age slain and decimate populations, he like many others that waged war were "monsters". We see predators competing for supremacy of food & territory going as far back as the eye can in Nature, in every nook & cranny.One long never ending string of fierce adaptations which resembles every arms race & striving for domination we've observed in human tribes since the dawn of any age. "Satan" is a meaningless cop out, has almost zero information attached, supernatural fairy stories ( dating back to Egyptians), pushed by modern day pagan popes & priests wishing to hold onto their jobs & their flocks.

Here are some stats for Germany 1820-1900, guess the "devil" is in here somwhere for you. One would be immediately drawn to just the basic (astounding) population growth stats. Then ask yourself why man differs from any other species from lemmings to lions, since his consuming predatory behavior & tendency to overexpand appears to be exactly the same? We know you'll have another simple answer (like satan) which is exactly why things seem to always get worse, since not being able to identify reality/ solution usually means one is being part of the problem. Also keeping in mind the bulk of Germany's economic success in this period leading up to 1910 was largely based on War preparations & building out infrastructure (jobs), this can be debated by those like you who cling to the "satan hypothesis" or other dimwitted historians. Reality is what men do, not what they feint, propagandise or pretend to believe in and we see all similar basic motives for all other players at the same time, no surprise.
