LS: Heating of the ground occurs prior to an eruption. It is probably best if you do your own experiment. That way you don't have to take my word on this or the climate alarmists on the flip side. Just light a flame disk, place an ice cube on the top of your hand, move the palm of your hand over the flame for up to 10 minutes. The top of your hand will warm up and the ice will melt.
