Ian,

Agreed...We will see continued fallout in the sector IMO...I did well in the first half of the year trading the likes of AMAT, SFAM,KLIC,EGLS and ADEX...My problem now is I tried to catch the falling knives on many of these issues last week and obviously was a bit early. I sold half my positions yesterday AM as I hate " dead money" and will perhaps cut the rest out of my portfolio on any bounce at all. I believe the beneficiaries of this fallout will be the actual chip makers themselves. In the short run I believe we are entering a tech bear market. The perceived jewels of the sector are cracking as well...CSCO INTC and many others. Long term equipment makers will do fine but I'm not willing to wait through a protracted period of stagnation which IMO we are entering...I appreciate your informative posts...

ReI think many of us, myself included, are having second thoughts about the wisdom of "buy and hold" in this particular sector.

Ian,

I've been thinking the same thing of late. Nearly all of my gains for the year have been wiped out. New strategies may have to be employed for this sector. Buy and hold may not kill you, but it could cause ulcers.

Regards,

Brian
