Patrick, these are reports from the channel... from the
resellers. No one has any idea what's going on with Dell's
95% direct accounts, only Dell does and they report quarterly.

The article's source:
"Citing channel and vendor sources"

What battlefield are the referring to?
"the channel and its vendor partners have outdueled Dell
in recent weeks

Where does Dell do most of it's business...?

Dell does not win every account, they've lost some big ones
to the other guys so this is not really significant news.
These moves by the competition were anticipated.

The important point was brought up, and it's a fact, that
HWP has a slush fund available to be able to undercut Dell
on price, a practice which is not sustainable but will likely
lead to agressive price war tactics in the short term. HWP
has been known to suppliment their PC losses with their
other businesses. They don't have the same efficiencies
as Dell and for them to undercut means little to no profit.

Patrick,

This is a reseller channel publication. The channel hates DELL because DELL wants nothing to do with the reseller channel.
Actually, this is not news it is just a repeat of what they said last month.

Besides that is more than one question. DELL will resume its movement in January as it did last year. Meantime I have to get ready for the holidays and new year.

Merry christmas, happy new year to you....
