A simple read through of agency oil balances through 2014 shows non-OPEC
supply growth outpacing product demand growth, reducing the implied call on
OPEC crude and lending a bearish tinge to the overall oil market. Yet these oil
balances fail to capture the important distinction between crude and product
balances, and a closer look at the two helps explain the current strong
crude/weak margin environment, which Citi expects to remain.
