Cost of living comparison between Copenhagen, Denmark and New York City, United States expatistan.com "I don't know how people can afford to live over there.." They lack the opportunity to go bankrupt behind medical expenses. Gives them a leg up on us. Last year Denmark was ranked the happiest country in world. This year Denmark is ranked the second happiest country in the world topped only by Norway. They are both successful high tax, very good social safety net (universal healthcare, unemployment compensation, retraining, free or affordable higher education, etc.) countries.
