One of my local Mac stores is all out of GVIL modems except for the OS 8 bundle with x2. Not a good sign, especially with Dale's info about Ingram running low on the Mac side. On the surface, the $49 Windows deal seems very worrisome too.

However, I promptly called two of the five largest Mac mail order catalogs and they each had both flavors of the Mac 56k in stock. So no lost sales there. Perhaps it is an Ingram thing, or perhaps just as likely, the final inventory has been released to the stores. I think Richard's thought that GVIL is clearing out the inventory in advance of the new standard might be what is going on. Obviously there's no profit on the Windows modems at $49 but selling through the inventory could lead to a one-time profit. Is this similar to what happened in March? That earnings report was what got me heavily into this company anyway, along with the spike in May proving that the stock had potential. In any case, the Windows price cut comes with only two weeks left in the quarter so most of the sales this period have been at "full" price.

Anyway, I am concerned. The continuing kudos for the GVIL products and the fact that Apple G3 systems are selling well does allow for some hope.

I also agree with Dale about GVIL IR. My limited dealings with them have not been all that productive.
