As a percentage of the whole smartphone market, yes, the high end is losing share, as it has for probably the 3rd year in a row ... Your statement isn't inaccurate but requires context to be a clear statement on the health and state of Apple's market. It isn't that the high end share of the market is less than 3-years ago because it has stopped growing; it is less because the transition of consumers away from feature phones has accelerated. The pie is growing faster at the low end than the high end globally because of this shift in adoption rates. Because Apple's product is superior, I expect the consumer transition to continue from feature phones to lower quality smart phones to higher quality smartphones because the cost difference between a 300 smartphone and a 600 smartphone is insignificant relative to the difference in functional experience. I see middle class sports fans pay 300-400 per ticket for a single event. The cost difference between an iPhone and a lower quality smartphone is over rated.
