Apple hides a lot of system files in OSX. That's fine, but they make it too hard to turn that function off. It should be in the system prefs not a command line.

If you are talking about the Library folder, there is a quick, non-command line way to access all of it. Simply open a finder window, hold down the Command and Option Keys and access the "Go" menu. The Library folder is listed among the choices.

Just a FYI trick.
