When I owned an auto repair business I once had to take a catalytic converter off of a vehicle that a marine was bringing with him to Africa. He had been assigned to guard one of the US embassies there. When I asked him if he wanted to save the converter for when he came back he said No! He said he would be selling the vehicle there for over a hundred thousand dollars so he would not be needing the converter anymore.Back then a hundred thousand dollars was a whole lot more than it is today.
