>>We have to get a handle on what Micron's stock price should be !<<

larry, nobody knows for sure. however, i do know it is MUCH LOWER than now :-)

btw, GREAT ARTICLE! just some tidbits...

>>The temporary lower Micron production ramp is good news for
Asian
DRAM competitors, who unanimously blamed the U.S. firm's
doubling of
output earlier this year as a major factor in over-saturating
the
global market and fueling the pricing firestorm.<<

JUST LIKE I SAID. mu brought this on themselves. now they want to play like they are holier than thou. they are holier. bullet holes, though... ;-)

>>Steve Appleton, Micron chairman, told the closed-door session
that
the wide-open chip expansion by Korean competitors may now be
curbed
due to that country's banking crisis. He told the group that the
ability of Korean and some other Southeast Asian chip makers to
raise capital for new fabs has been reduced. He predicted the
chip
industry would start to see fab delays and stretchout in
equipping
new proeduction lines.<<

applesauce is trying to rally the gulli-bulls. notice the term "may." also notice no dates are given. tomorrow applesauce? or 1-2 YEARS, applesauce??? btw, no mention that the seas will now try and export their way to health? why applesauce. it is TRUE! b/c you don't want the gulli-bulls to hear something bad out of your lips. so tell us what is good 2 years down the road and IGNORE WHAT IS BAD THAT IS HAPPENING TODAY, TOMORROW AND FOR THE NEXT YEAR. I OWN YOU APPLESAUCE. YOU ARE TRANSPARENT. LET THOSE WITH EYES SEE...

>>Analyst Toomey, however, said any impact from the Korean's
cutting
back expansion plans would not show up for several years. "In
the
interim, the Koreans and Taiwanese will continue to produce to
exceess, keeping pressure on spot prices in Asia, with spillover
effects into the U.S. market."
Raymond James & Associates, St. Petersburg, Fla., predicted that
the
DRAM market glut would continue through next year, with no
pricing
stability expected until 1999.<<

SO THE ANALYSTS (NOTICE THE "Y" THIS TIME - SEEM LIKE GOOD GUYS NOW) HAVE TO SET YOUR POMPOUS BUTT STRAIGHT.

this s/b a nice double whammy come monday and tuesday. everyone with two brain cells and a synapse between them will be scared of the news and try and sell ahead of tuesday. then, once tuesday hits, 50% of the doltsa will all of a sudden wisen up to what is going on and ought to bolt.

WE'RE IN THE TEENS BY NEXT WEEK, IMHO.

Larry,

Heading up the crash-and-burn department: Electronics For
Imaging [EFII], which plummeted 24 1/8 to 14 7/8, a
62 percent decline. The company warned that weak
demand from Asia would keep fourth quarter earnings
to 6 cents per share; analysts were expecting 49 cents
per share.

How about a 62% fall for MU!

Steve
