In previous post I indicated that the war in Ukraine instigated by the Russians is a pure NG play due to the new NG discoveries in the Black Sea around Crimea and therefore the quick annexation with a stern warning to the EU. There is also an aspect of the enlargement of NATO and the establishing of defense anti ballistic rocket bases in Romania in October 2013, but this is marginal IMHO.

Unfortunate the EU is not a monolithic social economic entity and many PM's governments of EU countries are soiling their underpants as is Israel government and his PM because of Russia involvement in Syria and control of the Hezbollah who may rocket or bomb the NG platforms of the Israeli coast, as they posses those capabilities doing so it is only an issue of giving an order. Finalizing a long term NG supply contract with China from the Russian Yamal peninsula may remove a lot of the present tensions.

This little announcement in a Bulgarian newspaper may help explain my theory

Israeli Gas 'Could Be Delivered to Bulgaria' via Greece

Energy

Bulgaria could receive gas supplies from Israel using the transportation grid of Greece, Bulgarian Prime Minister Plamen Oresharski said while in Israel.

Business representatives of both Israel and Bulgaria declared their interest in energy cooperation at a joint conference on Monday evening.

Oresharski, however, was quoted by Darik Radio as saying that energy ties between the two-countries are a "mid-term" project, as it was "too early" to discuss possible quantities or prices.

The reason is that Israel is still conducting its research on the actual size of its gas deposits and which is to take three or four more years.

Bulgaria's Prime Minister suggested a pipeline should be built to link Israel and Greece, a move which in his words would make supplies "easy".

A gas interconnection grid is to be built between Bulgaria and Greece, with its construction scheduled to begin at the end of 2014.

Tel Aviv has discovered significant quantities of gas in its territorial waters in the Eastern Mediterranean. It is yet to start cooperation in the field with neighbors and countries in the region, as it has not yet estimated the exact amounts it could deliver.
