Ham, maybe some of the mo players who have left the tech sector will see short squeeze opportunity in gold mining stocks, could happen end of December early Jan and when tax selling dries up. ABX had big April 98 call volume today with share buyback announcement.

They could point to the silver price jump and rally around the currency stuff to hype gold.

Not being of the canned food cult, you probably haven't read Prechter's work. He is predicting gold at $100 in an extreme deflationary environment. If you look at the prospective price for chips, with currency devaluations, this scenario may not be that far fetched. The American Semiconductor Industry may be in for some more cruel and unusual punishment, while this currency thing works itself out.
