Actually it has become a way of life for many, white , black or green. I remember girls actually planning to have children in their early teens, some just so they could get their own place and as one put it "watch whatever I want on TV". It is like a career choice. It changed after the welfare changed and more started going to school. Obama reversed all that when he "ruled" that states receiving federal assistance could no longer deny additional benefits for additional children. How many blacks do you see getting rich off welfare? I bet you believe blacks aspire to being on welfare......don't you?

If you can get stuff for free, you're not going to work for it. Over time, it will become an expectation for a way of life. It is a tragic result of bad public policy: Achievement is stifled. So you get terrible outcomes, but they're the creation of good intentions that worked out badly, which is the problem with most of these programs. The wasted lives are chronicled on A&E's The First 48, which documents murder investigations. One of the most astonishing, eye-opening things about this series -- which I've watched consistently since its inception -- is the lead in story of the victim. The number of black males murdered is something; but they normally say, "he was the father of #", where # is the number of children. The number of 25 year black males with 6 or 8 kids is just terrible. I bring this up because it is a result of a welfare state in which responsibility is not even in the vernacular. We've created generations of people who don't know what the word means. It is tragic to me that LBJ, while getting laudable legislation of the Civil Rights Bill, at the same time created a welfare state that has enslaved blacks for generations to come.
