John..hi..i'm a lurker and have shares of txn...been following it for a while...I think like Larry says it is in a downtrend mode just like the rest of the sox..and nasdaq too. It makes no difference what value is right now until earnings come out to determine "new" value. It's a pyschological market now. Everyone will be waiting on pins and needles for earnings. The first company, IF there is one, that comes out defeating asia woes having exposure to them whether thru hedging in other areas, will help the rest move even if it's short term till THAT companies earnings come out..It's pyschological from that point!... With txn, yeah, it feels cheap based on $70 post split highs....but no analyst will come out and say it's cheap cuz they are having a tough time putting a valuation on the stock due to the Dram/asian exposure. I read on their webpage that dram is 20% revenues but yet they have something like 38% exposure in asia. Yet, CEO says, there's a concern over the next 2-3 months with pricing pressures... but hey, no biggie..we got DSP....analyst say..DS WHAT?... They just don't want to stick their necks out by saying BUY txn.....when there's a downtrend in the overall market..cuz right now these analyst don't look to good in many investors eyes and they need to salvage any reputation they have lef.....If it gets to 35..then you might see an analyst with some...er..uh..guts <GG>..saying BUY!..But notice that there's not a downgrade (that I'm aware of) in txn just that they downgraded estimates...why?..cuz they don't know and they don't want to be wrong from that end too....Till then..lots of money on the sides...long term..txn is a great buy at this price...Most of the money will come in January cuz most money fund managers have hung it up for the yr and are going home for Xmas. Unless, we tank in the market....like October..then you might see a surge...Until we here more concrete good news on Korea...we could continue this downward trend...continue to year end...but January is a new year! And sooner or later once all the bad news is out....baby boomers want to have their money working for them LONG term. They may diversify into some bonds...but for long term growth you can't beat the market. I'm gonna forget about my techs for the rest of the year and find some good Tax companies to invest in...<GG>.... Happy Trading... Irene P.S...Larry, could you tell me the difference between DRAM and SDRAM regarding the pricing and demand...Are they in the same category as far as major downtrend in pricing...Thanks!
