There is little we CAN do, besides create an environment that encourages hiring to allow transition time for the work force. The only thing you can do is to make it attractive for employers to hire workers; instead, we're making it less attractive by adding on massive new requirements with Obamacare. When you are going to get that turning people into toothless wonders because they have no health insurance is not the way to go. Some form of universal health care is the universal standard in the entire first world and in parts of the third world. Your view of healthcare is reactionary. Its the equivalent of insisting the American worker drive Model Ts to work. Some of the most prosperous and happiest nations in the world have far greater health care coverage than Americans get under the ACA. Denmark, Sweden, the Netherlands, Norway etc come to mind.........they have the highest standard of living in the world.........and their economies don't miss a beat. Germany has only 90 million people and is small geographically.....hell, TX is twice as big...........but Germany is the second largest exporter of goods in the world........yes they out export the US. And let me tell you.........it has some of the strongest unions in the world with union rules that would make your skin curl. The truth is that the Rs don't have a clue as to what makes an economy prosper or how to create an environment that encourages hiring. What they are good at is shilling for corps. So entrenched are you all in your thinking that you don't see how they are fucking over this country and its people..........doing everything they can to not pay taxes and to hire people at sub par wages.......despite the fact they are the most profitable in history. And let me tell you if Rs keep insisting on repealing Obamacare, there will be a war in this country.....a big one. And I am not talking a war of words. What I suggest Rs do is stop trying to repeal the law and instead, find ways to make it better. One positive thing is that there is at least some talk of killing the employer mandate coming from Democrats. I think even THEY understand how damaging it is. Obama wants to just put it off until the election is over; but there is starting to be serious interest in doing away with it. That would be about the best thing anyone could do. It is clear the minimum wage increase is over for the rest of Obama's term, other than what some localities may do. Technology is going to replace a lot of workers over the coming years. Just fast food workers alone could amount to 3-3.5 million. People in minimum wage jobs are already the most at risk, and increasing the minimum wage guarantees larger job losses. At the same time, government tinkering with university education has created a situation where few ordinary families can afford to send their kids to school. And now, the talk is whether education is "worth" the student loans they're taking out. It is literally a "dumbing down" as a result of government, as usual, trying to "help". There is no 'dumbing down' happening in WA state. How is it in Arkansas? A really tragic direction for the country. The real tragedy in this country is that the rest of us have to fight the GOP every time we try to make any progress.
