Except the US is no where near a welfare state. That's just fodder created by R pols and pundits to scare Americans. You can understand that not everyone has the same view of what a "welfare state" is. I would argue when a nation's social "safety nets" have left the country with debts exceeding 100 Trillion, at this point in time, that is a welfare state. The US has debts because Rs have reduced revenue sources unreasonably. It started under Reagan and its as simple as that. Its one of the reasons why I joined the Dems. You all are on a very destructive bent.
