"I think the reason scientists have been conservative on global warming is that it is part of their culture to be very careful of being wrong" I don't mind them being conservative. I think it's pretty well understood by the scientific community that the IPCC report is obsolete when it comes out, since lots of research is published after work begins on it. I mind them being called "wild-eyed alarmists" by political conservatives. I mind "we can't hear you" every time the authorities say, "Well that was 5 years ahead of schedule".
