Blaming the gun is one of the dumbest things liberals do.

Communist democrats themselves don't believe guns are the problem, the tragedies are nothing more than opportunities to advance their necessity to disarm American citizens.

>> Yes, and once again we have the GOP and the wingers on the USSC to thank for this egregious mess.

No, we have the Founders to thank for the 2nd Amendment.

Stop blaming the originators of the Constitution for your BS. BTW back when the Founders existed, the Tories, your ancestors, opposed them. So don't act like you all were buddy buddy with the Founders.

As for the current mess we are in, we can blame the USSC, populated by wingers. They were the first USSC court to interpret the 2nd amendment as a permission to arm everyone in this country. But it didn't start with them. It started with Reagan who determined in his enduring folly that spending tax money on mental institutions was a waste of money and that the mentally disturbed were better off on the streets. In fact spending tax money on anything other than making war was his mantra.........that and writing silly love letters to his wife.

But we have the welfare state to thank for the vast majority of the gun killings in this country.

Every first world country has welfare. None have the kind of gun violence prevalent in this country. Back in the 90s, the UK and AU had a problem..........nothing to magnitude of the one we have here.........but they cleaned up the problem by restricting gun ownership.

Blaming the gun is one of the dumbest things liberals do.

I don't blame the gun............I blame the right in this country.

One month prior to the election, President Carter had signed the Mental Health Systems Act, which had proposed to continue the federal community mental health centers program, although with some additional state involvement. Consistent with the report of the Carter Commission, the act also included a provision for federal grants "for projects for the prevention of mental illness and the promotion of positive mental health," an indication of how little learning had taken place among the Carter Commission members and professionals at NIMH. With President Reagan and the Republicans taking over, the Mental Health Systems Act was discarded before the ink had dried and the CMHC funds were simply block granted to the states. The CMHC program had not only died but been buried as well. An autopsy could have listed the cause of death as naiveté complicated by grandiosity.

Inode,
Blaming the gun is one of the dumbest things liberals do.
The gun is an enabling tool. (So is a knife, but it's harder to use for killing.)

A better question is what is the gun enabling, and why do we see more and more LOSERS needing something to enable their murderous, suicidal desires.

This question, of course, has no easy answers, just like the debate over the 2nd amendment, but I feel it is more productive than arguing over the same damn things, like whether more regulation would have prevented this.
