Phil, There are many places. The trick is to find one that does not want to charge you sales tax and GST.

The governments have tried their best to kill the gold trade on a small bar basis with these taxes. So a 1 ounce bar has $60 in taxes when bought from Kitco, and you get no refund when you sell it back.
So never buy this way. Go to the coin shows, as they sell them there for cash at close to spot. Watch for the bars with a buried tungsten matrix built in. SInce Tungsten has almost the same density as gold you can make a bar with 30-40% tungsten hidden inside, and it is hard to x-ray gold, and the density is the same, and the only ways to see the inner structure are ultrasound or a hacksaw blade. A few people like Deak were shocked a few years ago to find that they had some bars with tungsten inside, right in stock. Counterfeit hallmarks, looked perfect.
So watch your step if you buy bars for cash at a show. Few people carry an ultrasound to test the innards. All gold buyers(major) test the bars with U/S now, or even drill the larger bars. The ultrasound can still be fooled, if the tungsten insert is vacuumm cast to have no voids, and then is nickel plated to provide a gold wettable surface for when it goes into the bar it will show a minimal discontinuity, and they might not notice the inner structure with U/S.
