It really is hard for anyone capable of critical thought to not be a cynic in this environment

So much that is obvious to fair minded people is being driven by folks whose agenda is set by people who are obviously stupid or in the pay of folks who are driven by consummate greed

...and advanced by folks who should be able to know better

IMHO you can't do what you do year after year and be a cynic in your heart. I don't see how you can put in all that effort with those kids and be truly cynical.
