I agree with you, more guns do not make us safer. That's a canard. ............But it's a canard used by the right and the NRA, because of those people who want to take their guns away from them. They're just using that issue to inflame the base which brings them in the cash hoards to defeat anti-gun politicians. AND, like I said to defeat even those who are centrist leaning moderates - usually democrats. Pragmatically speaking, the hate for the guns that are so prevalent here is what gives the NRA the strength they have. They then are able to defeat politicians who otherwise might make fantastic leaders. Those in the most liberal places of the country, just don't get how this issue plays in most of America.
