Apple is roughly where it was when I become bearish on them in 2012.
Yet you have expressed that you thought Apple was worth only $200/share. Your words don't add up.

I have never shorted Apple. I've been an Apple bear since early 2012 (a bit too early) and have taken various put option positions periodically since then.
You should realize buying a put is a short position. You are hoping/expecting the share price will decline. You lose if Apple increases. The only difference is your loss is capped with puts.

Had I purchased AAPL in the fall of 2012, not including dividends, I'd be down.

You can still say that but, its disingenuous. If you bought at the highs, never before and never after, you would be down. If you knew what you were buying, you would have bought before and after. And, even if your first purchase were at the all time high, the worst possible time to buy, you would still be up today, if you followed up presumed conviction with a buy at that level with subsequent buys.
