Sadly, that is what we have now, as we saw over the weekend. Elliot Rodger’s individual right to bear arms trumped the public good. Eight people were shot as a result. As you know, I am sympathetic to Nocera's broader purpose. However, he does not help his cause by saying that "eight people were shot as a result." As a matter of fact, three of those people were stabbed. We need to get facts straight. We shouldn't devolve into being like the Republicans who lie, who misuse statistics in ridiculous ways, who continually mislead by omission or misstatement.
