..but I think so much of what you bring is obviously colored by your environment, such that what seems progressive in your view, as you relate to your local contemporaries, is a step off in a more national view

..the agnostic thing is good example

In the nation, at large, religion is simply being overtaken by education

I don't know if that is happening as much where you are
