That could be deliberate, he concedes. Ride the New York subway and it seems nearly every black and Hispanic male is wearing Beats or imitations. Apple will reach a new demographic other than its white, hipster, arty, media crowd.

These are probably still already Apple customers. I still have to believe that the majority of Beats headphones are being used with iPhones. The headphones themselves come with cable with an inline remote wand that only works with iOS devices. One that works more universally with Android/BB/Windows Phone can be purchased separately for $30. For that to be the default choice makes no sense unless the customer is most likely to be an iPhone user. Moreover, Iovine has been quoted as having courted Apple for years to partner with Beats. He knows where his bread is buttered.
