The Golden Rule is not a religious construct (however is used by religions for teaching kids, and that's a good thing). The Golden Rule is followed by any person, religious, agnostic, or atheist, who is not a psychopath/sociopath. Those who follow the Golden Rule don't tend to kill others. It's the true basis for all moral behavior amongst people. All else is religious add-ons, most of which has no real import.
