There are some important points there which will become obvious as we more forward: the general-purpose PC and the operating systems that run them are optimal for document creation and analysis (reports, charts, billing software, et cetera) whereas the set-top computer should be optimized for presentation of rich audio-visual information with a dirt-simple interaction mechanism such as voice input or an easy-to-use remote mouse with a couple 'O buttons. There's a third category of device which is actually more like the set-top product and less like the general purpose PC: the portable communications device. Intel is sitting pretty because the media rich content, voice control and whatnot will require powerful processors which Intel plans on offering just for this market. It's less clear what Microsoft's role is going to be, minimal I hope.
