Religions, and philosophies tend to be great plagiarists. They steal constantly from each other, and from pagan traditions- because let's face it, there is no objective truth to be found when it comes to invisible friends and friendships, or even philosophies. As religions are all stories told to make men feel better about being men, and mortal, it makes sense they'd have elements in common- but the great number of common elements makes it pretty clear that they also borrow heavily from each other.
