I always thought the first question regarding religion was: "is it real or not".

That has really been the only question I ever asked.

If it isn't real, then why should we even expect it to be able to teach us anything, let alone spirituality?

Seems to me that make sense?

Utility, IMO, would be down there at 2 or 3 :>).

Seriousness seems sort of irrelevant, if the stories are just made up.
