Well Jim I think I agree you entirely. I have no idea where to simply get the facts on an issue. Hence I try to read a lot of different sources to at least get the different view points.

My biggest rant would be the Sunday morning or other news shows that interview the "players". What has happened there is each side simply repeats the talking points that are defined by each side of the issue.

Frankly, I no longer even trust statistics issued by the government. Additionally, I do not believe a thing Obama says. Sad because perhaps presidential leadership is the one way out of this.

That leaves markets to speak. How in the world do we rationalize 10 yr bonds yielding less than 2.5% and the Fed printing money to beat the band. At the same time gold is weak. All I can think is that the forces of deflation are powerful and still a threat.

How does the Fed eventually reduce the size of their balance sheet?

Bob

Excellent post, Jim. Thanks.

It's unfortunate that we have the media we have. But we have no choice but to deal with the world as it is. That includes putting up the stories we ourselves are skeptical about, but letting our astute fellow threadsters evaluate them instead of always passing judgement ourselves. If that entails picking them apart? Good!! This thread is excellent at doing that and that's why I posted the story at issue and specifically asked the thread to have at it.

In college, we called it the Socratic Method. Don't give people the answers. Give them the problem. And let them sharpen and demonstrate their skills in determining what is true and what is false.

I'm happy with the outcome of the discussion and the strategy I employed to get it in hi gear..))

It won't be the last time I use it.

God blesses the open mind with the powers of discernment & discrimination (aka; knowledge and Awareness), where the pathways of truth emerge.

those of closed mind, are left trapped in the compartmental labyrinth, of the dumb or dumber matrix.

in conditions, best defined as wave forms, already collapsed.
