Respond to of 1579192 Something Isn’t Right About This Bowe Bergdahl Dealby Lonely Conservative • June 1, 2014 • 5 Comments The more you hear about this Bowe Bergdahl deal, the more it stinks . When word first came out of the exchange of five top Muslim terrorists for Bowe Bergdahl , it seemed we could attribute the debacle to the exceedingly poor judgment of a conspicuously unqualified president who may lack the mental capacity to consider the inevitable effect on the safety of Americans throughout the world. But as more information comes to light, it is starting to smell like something even worse. Bergdahl was not a legitimate prisoner of war. He is a deserter who went AWOL and turned up among a band of terrorists. He has been described by a company commander as a “dirtbag” and a “sympathizer” (i.e., with the terrorist enemy). Bergdahl evidently converted to Islam and was teaching the Taliban bomb-making skills with which to kill Americans. From a 2010 report : Afghan intelligence officials also believe that Bergdahl is ‘cooperating with the Taliban’ and is acting as adviser to fighters at a base in the tribal area of Pakistan. Read the whole thing . Here’s video of Obama’s press conference with the Bergdahls. Listen to the father, a guy from Idaho, as he speaks Pashtun fluently. He tried to join the French Foreign Legion first, but they wisely rejected him. Sgt Bergdahl took an unusual route into the US military, studying ballet and joining a sailing expedition from the Atlantic to the Pacific before attempting to enlist in the French Foreign Legion. Only after being rejected by France did he join the US Army. ( Read more ) This whole deal just stinks. So, do you think the US media will have any curiosity and dig deeper into Bergdahl’s past, or will they just buy the White House version of events? H/T to Michigan and to Tracey in a comment on my earlier post .
