Yes from a technology standpoint, IBM could build the AMD K6 wafers ...
however, this would raise the manufacturing costs (now two companies have
to generate a profit) and it seems that AMD by themselves is having a
hard time keeping the selling price/ASP's above the manufacturing costs !!

IBM has wonderful technology, but is not a "low cost" producer of that
technology. This is where Intel has a strategic advantage.
