I don't know about the quantity - if you check AMD's market share, it is DECLINING.

The CPU prices are declining significantly as you noted. Intel is protecting its market share and dealing a financial blow to AMD - reducing the capability of AMD to make a significant profit on their K6.

AMD's yield disaste has taken the problem to another level - to that of financial losses, not just reduced profits.

Intel has demonstrated reduced margins as well, but their "reduced" margins are still producing incredible profits - $1.57 Billion in the past quarter alone.

Long term, AMD will have reduced resources to stay on the technology treadmill with Intel.
