No, it wasn't first, but it was the heart of the real innovation that created consumer demand, and I think everyone would admit that it was a radical departure from everything that came before. So, isn't everyone else really copying Apple?
Copying what aspect precisely? Copying that Apple inspired segment growth by putting together ingredients nicely? I suppose that would be fair to say. Apple certainly didn't invent the smartphone, nor most of the features that go into them, but they did the best job of putting the pieces together and finding mass appeal. Apple certainly is, in turn, copying many of the subsequent features that have accelerated that initial growth (be it screen size, notifications, custom keyboards, advanced photo processing, etc.) And again, it's a good thing that they're copying what is working for each other, as that's what is making smartphones so useful. Imagine if no one copied automobile features that have improved cars through the years!

You really have to credit the iPhone with creating the entire category. No, it wasn't first, but it was the heart of the real innovation that created consumer demand, and I think everyone would admit that it was a radical departure from everything that came before. So, isn't everyone else really copying Apple?
That point is so deeply and broadly understood in the tech industry as well as the broader investment community as to be obvious by now. It defies reason that someone here wouldn't understand the point.
