Wall Street analysts like it precisely because Touch ID is one of those things that can be used for anything that requires a payment or a login.

The additional security is big, but I also like it simply because it will be much faster than logging into your account. I hate having to put in my password into my banking, credit card, broker, Amazon, ebay etc apps. Half the time I need to enter multiple passwords because I cant remember which password is associated with which account. The passwords are also much more complex to type in than the 4 digit passcode that is bypassed when unlocking the device.

Touch ID is more secure AND its easier to use. That is a very big deal.

And, why not a fingerprint sensor for the desktop iMac? The touch ID as commerce security filter is much bigger, market wise, than all iOS devices.

Note also that built into Yosemite is an ever so gentle nudge to Apple's customers to get hooked up to e-commerce with Apple through the $0.99 per month deal on expanded cloud storage, in order to accommodate the wealth of images stored in iPhoto and automatically available across all devices.

One company that knows that development DNA requires a double helix, hardware and software, within the same cell. No other computer company gets this. Microsoft is only now waking up to it.
