A "little primer", however, may take a lot more space than just a few pages. The complexity of modern wafer processes is mind boggling. You might want to pick up a copy of Scientific American - a special issue from November/December which is dedicated to transistor/integrated circuits. Craig Barrett (Pres. of Intel) contributed a decent article on wafer manufacturing. That article and all the rest are an excellent resource about the past and present of semiconductor technology. Paul
