iTunes was a terrible development for audiophiles.

But audiophiles amount to 0.01% (if that) of the public. No one cares about quality anymore; if they did they wouldn't be listening to music compressed to 128kbps. I used to buy my audio gear from high-end audio shops. Hell, there isn't one in my entire state now. Great brands like Klipsch and JBL have moved away from the designs that made them great toward those that have more marketing appeal.

Audiophiles were never going to buy crap headphones like Beats. This product targets the masses; the prices are ridiculous when you can by far superior gear for half the money. But people will buy them because they're from Apple. High margins. That's what it is about.
