If Apple did this I'd probably start buying up legacy devices. iMacs, and Mac laptops with optical disks. iPods. Try to get enough to last for a couple of decades.

I'd go Linux for newer web based stuff, laptops etc. Maybe even Windows. Android for phone.

I also agree that the extra dongles are not the greatest things and hate to have to pay extra to make good already work with new stuff.

The plus side is that the new hardware should come with a set of new headphones.

I also believe that if Apple goes this route they will make all the headphones of the future digital which will make analogue signals moot.

It's a lot like the discussions of going from live music to Phonograph, then CD, then ......

The future is bright yet there will always be those resistant to moving forward for whatever reasoning they have.
