It is difficult to see how this turns around.

Government dumping billions into student loans, willy-nilly, has resulted in a university system that is just as bloated and dysfunctional as government itself; instead of existing to create educated people, they exist to gulp down government dollars coming from every direction. The effect has been to price the middle class out of reasonable university studies.

I think we're going to see a huge scaling back of university systems as serious education moves to the Internet. I really don't know what is going to happen with them. I suppose they'll become hotbeds of government funded research. State universities will bite the dust. It is probably the one positive in an otherwise gloomy future for the country.

I think maybe 1% of people have any understanding of, or give a damn about, the crisis the country is in.
